Aluma Tampa

At Lombardi Institute of Dermatology, we are committed to bringing a range of innovative cosmetic dermatology services to residents of the Tampa, FL area. The Aluma skin renewal system from Lumenis is a terrific example. It is ideal for the patient who wants see reduction in wrinkles and noticeable lift, gradually, naturally, and without surgery.

The science of Aluma

Aluma uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to stimulate your body’s internal healing processes, heightening production of collagen. Gentle suction pulls skin into the device, where a controlled dose of RF energy is sent into foundation layers of skin, without harm at the surface. This method allows Dr. Lombardi to precisely control the delivery of energy. RF heats the deep skin layers, triggering manufacture of collagen, which skin needs for youthful firmness and structure.

Aluma treatment

Aluma is a great choice for non-surgical skin tightening at the face and neck. It is especially appropriate for use around the eyes, where lasers may not be an option due to risk of retinal damage. We have also had good results treating other areas of sagging skin, such as upper arms, legs, and abdomen.

Switching to a healthy skin care regimen a few weeks prior to beginning Aluma gets your complexion into good condition for treatment. We recommend Alastin skin care products pre-procedure, to soothe skin after treatment, and for on-going restoration of collagen and elastin. On the day of your appointment, we cleanse your skin and apply a conductive lotion that aids in efficient delivery of RF energy. The clinician uses a hand piece to suction skin into the device. Your appointment will last about an hour, possibly longer depending on the area treated. There is no need for anesthetic, and no needles, cutting, sutures, or scarring. As RF enters your tissues you may feel a warming sensation, but treatment is virtually painless. There is absolutely no downtime; you may resume normal activities right away. Patients with very sensitive skin may experience minor redness or swelling, which resolves within a few hours.

Noticeable results

The beauty of Aluma is in the gradual transformation you experience. After the first session, you see noticeable reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. As collagen continues to build, your complexion becomes progressively smoother, with firmness and lift. Typically, four to five Aluma treatments, spaced a week apart, are necessary for optimal skin tightening that lasts up to a year. Then we recommend touch-up sessions every three to six months to maintain youthful appearance. Aluma can be used alone, or in combination with neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport), dermal fillers, and other skin rejuvenation techniques.
