PRP Tampa

Rejuvenate your skin with platelet-rich plasma!

Dr. Milan Lombardi believes in using the latest, most efficient treatments that work with the body's natural inclination to restore itself. Platelet-rich plasma is one such procedure that is popular with our Tampa patients.

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a derivative of your own blood. The purpose for "spinning" blood to separate plasma is to gain access to the very best components, platelets that contain a large amount of growth factors. These growth factors can be used for numerous objectives. In fact, PRP has been a common method used in orthopedic medicine for many years. In recent years, we have become more aware of what this technique can do for the rejuvenation of the skin.

How PRP treatment works

This safe and effective treatment makes the most of your biochemistry to benefit your skin. Because platelet-rich plasma comes from your own blood, there is no risk of adverse reaction due to allergies to a foreign substance. PRP is an adjunct to microneedling, a procedure that gently creates thousands of microchannels in the skin. Once these microscopic channels have been made, platelet-rich plasma is applied to the skin where its vital components can be absorbed. When interaction between the growth factors in plasma and living cells occurs, rejuvenation is stimulated in the tissues, which supports beautiful, lifted skin. In addition to reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and scarring, PRP can be used as a solution to alopecia or thinning hair.

What to expect

Dr. Lombardi performs PRP in a comfortable treatment room in our Tampa office. Treatment begins with a standard blood-draw. The collected serum is placed into a centrifuge, which spins blood until plasma separates from other cells.

Before applying platelet-rich plasma, we will prepare the skin with our Eclipse MicroPen™ so that optimal absorption takes place. Within a few hours of treatment, the microchannels close, leaving no side effects.

We love consulting with patients from Tampa neighborhoods like Carrollwood, Westchase, and St. Petersburg and explaining how innovative techniques can provide them with the glowing healthy skin that they deserve. Learn more about PRP. Call to schedule your visit with us today.
