Sclerotherapy Tampa

When you are fortunate enough to live in an area as beautiful as Tampa, there is a strong chance that you will wear shorts the majority of the year. We understand the impact that visible veins can have on your level of confidence. Dr. Lombardi has helped numerous patients from West Tampa, Downtown Tampa, and surrounding neighborhoods such as Brandon and St. Petersburg eliminate unattractive spider veins with proven sclerotherapy treatment.

Spider veins tend to be more visible on women than on men. As women approach middle age, it is common that they begin to see small clusters of blue and purple on the lower extremities such as the ankles or around the knees. There are several reasons for the development of spider veins, including:
  • Genetics
  • Pregnancy
  • Lifestyle habits, many of us spend a good portion of our day sitting!
  • Variations in hormones
  • Changes in weight
Whatever has caused your spider veins, know that you have a reliable resource for clearer, more attractive skin in the office of Dr. Lombardi. With extensive training, experience, and the right technologies, we can help you love your skin. Sclerotherapy is a solution to spider veins that doctors have relied on for many decades. Due to the high success rate of this straightforward treatment, we have included it in our menu of services.

What is sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical vein treatment that targets unwanted veins with a sclerosing solution. When injected into individual veins with a tiny needle, it causes their collapse. Over several weeks, treated veins will close and become less and less visible until they completely disappear forever. The blood that once flowed through these veins is redirected to nearby healthy veins.

In most cases, treatment takes less than an hour. Depending on how many veins we are treating, we may complete the process in under 15 minutes. Following injections, patients may notice slight redness and itching in the treatment area. These side effects, if they do occur, tend to fade very quickly. Another potential side effect is bruising. This may last a week or two.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive, effective way to say goodbye to unsightly spider veins. To learn more about this procedure, contact Dr. Lombardi's Tampa dermatology practice.
