Sculptra offers Tampa residents a new way to turn back time on their faceSmile lines or laugh lines start as subtle signs of aging that become more pronounced as you age, causing you to appear more tired and older than you are. Natural aging, sun exposure, smoking, weight fluctuations, and genetics can be to blame for the speed in which wrinkles appear and deepen. To help Tampa residents erase their smile lines, Dr. Milan Lombardi at Lombardi Institute of Dermatology offers a non-surgical treatment called Sculptra.
As patients consider their options to turn back time, Dr. Lombardi has addressed some common questions about Sculptra:
Is Sculptra considered a filler?Sculptra is an injectable but not a filler like Juvéderm or Restylane. These injectables rely on hyaluronic acid to plump up the folds of deep lines, but only last for 6 to 12 months. Sculptra is considered a collagen booster because it is made of a material called poly-L-lactic acid that is gradually and naturally absorbed into the skin. As we age, our skin loses collagen, which means it loses its elasticity, causing wrinkles to form. Sculptra helps replace lost collagen to correct deep facial wrinkles and folds.
Where can Sculptra be injected?Sculptra is a great treatment for deep facial wrinkles and folds around the mouth and chin, but it can be used on other areas of the face, including beneath the eyes and on cheekbones – even on the hands and the delicate neck and upper torso area called the décolletage.
How quickly do results appear?Sculptra gradually corrects facial wrinkles over time, and typically requires three sessions over a few months to give you natural-looking results without making you look like you had work done.
How long do results last?Sculptra works with your body to replace lost collagen. With proper aftercare, including short facial massages you do at home, Sculptra can provide results that last two or more years.
If you'd like a more youthful appearance that is natural-looking and longer lasting than fillers, call to set up a consultation with Dr. Lombardi at Lombardi Institute of Dermatology in Tampa.
